I'm Polynesian and trans women are and have been a welcome cherished part of the community. I'm 48 and have grown up with trans women in my life, they are wonderful people who I feel safe around. They are one of the most persecuted groups, and all the hate towards them, even in words only, encourages more violence. The real threat to women is the patriarchy and the cisgender men who created and uphold it to oppress and control women in all aspects of our lives and they do it in plain sight. Thanks for this article. I've recently seen "Firebrand" and the threatening tyrannical rotten atmosphere at Henry 8th court is very well showed and felt. What a challenge it was to be a woman in those days... Horrid.
I agree that there are only 2 sexes because they are only 2 types of chromosomes XX or XY, however some people are born intersex (hermaphrodite) with both characteristics of male and female genitals and nowadays at puberty they are asked to chose if they feel more "woman" or "man" especially if they want to have children... In Dominican Republic, an enzym has caused a lot of little girls "growing a penis" at puberty (BBC documentary). So I guess it's a bit tricky for them... Should they change in the women's changing room or in the men's?
