Thanks Tara. The 14th October Solar Eclipse is something I would have assumed the Australian government would have checked before announcing the referendum. But no. There's a good book called Night Skies of Aboriginal Australia by Dianne Johnson which repeats the claim that an eclipse was a feared event, greeted with dread and trepidation.
Interesting, Naomi. As an astrologer, I have to say that rolling this out on Mercury Retrograde is unwise. You do all your first drafts and beta-testing on this cycle, not the finished item. Not having (even) an intern check the date in terms of Aboriginal cultural astronomy really strikes me. We've got Ray Norris, an astronomer at the CSIRO telling the Sydney Morning Herald (years ago) that the moon was seen as a "bad man-creator spirit who had created various crimes." The New Moon actually shows his death. That's fascinating, because here we have Aboriginal culture and history actually talking to us about this crucial date for them!
WRONG!!! There is no eclipse on the day of the refendum (14/10/2023). In Australia the eclipse happens the next day at 5am on October 15th. I can't believe a so-called professional can mess time zones up so badly... Blatantly wrong. Anywhatever, the main reason the referendum will fail is because the majority of Australians don't want the Voice, not because of some eerie cosmic happening in the sky.
Simples, pragmatism not superstition!
Ps. JA after you got the 2022 Australian election predictions so wrong, I don't believe you have any power to predict ANYTHING apart from the usual hits/misses ratio - you're going to be right half the time! (which means nothing).
An interesting conversation on the Eclipse and the referendum. My thought is that in the long history of civilisations being overpowered by another, there are not many instances where the oppressor supported the first nation people. In my readings of old civilizations, I can only recall one instance where multiple groups somehow successfully integrated as a diverse culture, living side by side but holding true to their own traditions (wish i could remember whom they were, but I will have to drag out the relevant book!). I wonder if the astrology syncs to that pattern of the newcomers tightly guarding their power, and the Eclipse is an omen of the challenge of the Yes vote getting through.
Thank you Veronica. Some First Nations people will be voting "No" of course, although as this is being published, polls show the majority will vote "Yes." The Aboriginal leader Michael Mansell is voting "No", for example. I do wonder if the polls are going to change between now and 14th October (or just the vote, actually) as Mercury Retrograde is notorious for people changing their minds. I have this great book called Aboriginal Mythology by Mudrooroo stating that an eclipse of the Moon was an omen that someone on a journey had met with a serious accident; an eclipse of the Sun was about black magic! My take on this October 14th date is that it reveals a lack of proper research and knowledge on Aboriginal tradition and culture. And if we respect Aboriginal wisdom, which I do, then their cultural astronomy is basically saying the same thing as our astrology; the date's an issue.
“ Something else to consider is the woman, incidentally, whose financial world will turn upside-down. She’s a major news story by October 14th”.
Reading this out to my husband while enjoying our tea and coffee in the morning sun. First thing he says is “Gina”.
Her children are suing her currently. Will be interesting to watch.
Very interesting Jessica. I will be watching for India, Dehli and mining. As for the Aboriginal peoples... one can only wait and see what happens.
