THE HOROSCOPE FOR 14th OCTOBER 2023 IS NOT A GOOD OMEN. There is a New Moon Eclipse on the day - and eclipses have traditionally been feared by Aboriginal Australians.
This cover of The Border Mail calls referendum day ‘A Date With Destiny’ but as an astrologer, I wish PM Anthony Albanese had chosen a different date.
The Astrological Chart for 14th October 2023
Australia votes YES or NO to The Indigenous Voice to Parliament on 14th October 2023. The astrology chart here is shown for 6.00pm, close of polls, in Canberra, and it shows an approaching eclipse. In astrology that is unhelpful. In Aboriginal astronomy, it’s actually traditionally considered to be evil. (Software: AstroGold).
THE LEADING ABORIGINAL ASTRONOMY WEBSITE shows that many Aboriginal groups viewed eclipses negatively, frequently associating them with bad omens, evil magic, disease, blood and death.
LUNAR ECLIPSES ARE NOT POPULAR. Duane Hamacher, from Macquarie University, told the ABC in 2011, “lunar eclipses are generally seen to have a fairly negative connotation around the world, and Aboriginal traditional culture is no different.”
He commented, "In many communities, elders or medicine men were believed to have the ability to control or avert eclipses by magical means, solidifying their role as provider and protector within the community."
In 2011, National Geographic also cited Duane Hamacher and also CSIRO astrophysicist Ray Norris about the fear of an eclipse in Aboriginal culture.
Speaking to SBS in 2022, Kirsten Banks, an astrophysicist and science communicator, commented “lunar eclipses are seen by some Aboriginal groups as a bit of an omen to say that a relative may be in danger, or someone on a journey had maybe become sick or was injured.
The maximum eclipse on polling day, takes place on 14th October 2023 in Melbourne at 12.59.30pm. The Sun and Moon are both in Libra. New Moon.Mercury Retrograde and The Voice
The poll date itself was announced on Mercury Retrograde.
This well-known cycle sees communication, negotiation and transportation (all ruled by Mercury) stall or go backwards. Cancellation is common.
We can expect the usual problems with postal votes and the form itself, given Mercury Retrograde. We can also expect wrong polls. To check how astrology performed, accurately predicting the shape of the last election and the fate of PM Albanese and Scott Morrison, one month before it happened - it’s here.
First Nations Voices in Vogue
Fear of change in The Voice horoscope shows clearly, even though First Nations voices are literally in VOGUE.
The biggest takeaway from this chart is huge hesitation about the realities of The Voice to Parliament, particularly with male voters.
The chart also shows an uncertain Prime Minister. He’s there with this, but also not entirely there. This is classic Pisces, his Sun Sign.
The two fish swim in opposite directions. This is also typical of any Mercury Retrograde announcement. You are in two minds and it shows.
I do astrology, not politics, but the astrology charts here would wish for something more certain than Mercury Retrograde and - no eclipse, either.
An Eclipse Is Always A Cover-Up
Two of the most famous examples of eclipse cover-ups are the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the marriage of Prince Charles to Lady Diana Spencer. I’ve filed a feature on eclipses here.
As I write this on Friday 1st September 2023, opinion polls show the majority of indigenous Australians and First Nations people want YES. They also show that the majority of people in most states of Australia want NO.
There will be a huge piece of deception when Australia votes.
The Hip Pocket and the Referendum
The astrology chart shows people will vote with their hip pocket. There is an exact square from Ceres at 12 Scorpio, the sign of finances, clashing with Hygiea at 12 Aquarius, the sign of minority groups like the Greens.
Watch India
This chart also chimes exactly with the chart for India. The media should watch concealed Indian mining, land and property interests in Australia on this vote. This referendum concerns billion dollar questions.
As soon as The Voice referendum date was announced, the chart for Adani among others chimed. Watch Delhi.
So What Wins? YES or NO?
There is really no point in betting on YES or NO as it’s like backing either of two flies crawling up a wall. A coin toss could do it.
So far, the chart backs the polls. This is ‘not sure yet’ based on the hesitation of the Prime Minister, the uncertainty of other male voters and confusion about where and when - to plant the idea of greater power for First Nations.
Something else to consider is the woman, incidentally, whose financial world will turn upside-down. She’s a major news story by October 14th.
I’ll be really curious to see if this eclipse date can be changed for referendum day.
Let’s see if any indigenous people object to Saturday 14th October 2023 on the completely acceptable grounds that eclipses have never been good omens.
Why announce an historic date for Australia on Mercury Retrograde then call it for an eclipse?
“ Something else to consider is the woman, incidentally, whose financial world will turn upside-down. She’s a major news story by October 14th”.
Reading this out to my husband while enjoying our tea and coffee in the morning sun. First thing he says is “Gina”.
Her children are suing her currently. Will be interesting to watch.
Very interesting Jessica. I will be watching for India, Dehli and mining. As for the Aboriginal peoples... one can only wait and see what happens.
